Controlling VLC with media keyboard while screen is locked.

Hi all,

I use a keyboard with media buttons, which works very nicely for VLC.

However, I work between 2 computers, one is my Mint PC that I use for music. When the phone rings, I need to pause the music using the keyboard button, but if the screen is locked due to timeout, the keyboard commands don't get through to VLC.

Is there any way to allow the media buttons through to VLC when the screen is locked?

I get the feeling that the short answer will be a flat No due security reasons, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

What is your version of Mint and what is the desktop environment? If you don't know open a terminal and enter:

Regardless of that: Only brightness correction and keyboard backlight multimedia keys are at now supported at the screen locker screen.

Regarding the multimedia / screensaver support there is no change noted for LM 18.
