Freezing
I have a acer axc-603g-uw12 that I installed Linux mint on it kept freezing. I tried a fresh install of ubuntu and the problem is still there. So I'm pretty sure it's either a hardware conflict with Linux or its faulty hardware any suggestions on tracking it down?
Re: Freezing
And it's a complete freeze have to cycle power no mouse or keyboard response.
Re: Freezing
You may boot a Live session if you can't boot into installed Mint. Open a terminal to generate the inxi report:
Also post available drivers:
Code: Select all
inxi -zxxv2
Code: Select all
ubuntu-drivers devices

Re: Freezing
It seems it's rather frequent problem, if you search the web for "Linux Mint freeze" or just scroll down a bit on this very forum.
With me it started happening a couple of months ago on Mint 17 Cinnamon. Because of that I installed Mint 18 Cinnamon, which didn't help a bit. I guess some update ruined my old Mint 17.
It's much better on Mint 18 XFCE, I only had 4 freezes in a week.
I'm currently running LMDE, but too soon to tell yet.
Next I'll try Mint 17.2 without updates and see how that works.
(I think I already tried 17.3 and the problem was there also, but I'm not absolutely sure about that - too many distros tried recently.)
Also my old Mint 16 Cinnamon works without freezes.

Re: Freezing
BTW, no amount of updates in Mint 18 Cinnamon helped - I tried it without any updates, and I tried all 3 levels of them - with no effect on the freezing problem whatsoever.
Also tried Mint 18 XFCE version without any updates until the the first freeze and then added updates with every freeze I got. Nothing helped, but as I mentioned, with XFCE version it's much better: only 4 freezes in a week. On 18 Cinnamon I would get at least 2 a day, if not more.

Re: Freezing
I had a similar problem on 1 laptop. It was cured by reseating the connectors (SATA) on the hard drive. No problem after.
Re: Freezing
your symptoms can only mean one thing which is hardware failure. if this is a desktop tower pc open it up and give it a good air duster clean and check cables. take out your RAM and switch them around.
