Virus on my Mint installation?

Postby soundcheck » Sun Mar 15, 2009 4:18 am

Hi folks.

I switched recently to Mint.

Now after two weeks of running it I get strange (see below) messages if I open up a terminal.
If I reopen the terminal I get a different message

Does anybody have any idea what to do with this? Is this related to Mint?

THX

Yes its related, its a small program named fortune and gives you randomly, hopefully interesting, adage on startup of a new console or login.
It will get dangerous when dumb people get busy!

If you want to disable fortunes you can by doing the following.
Clicking Menu
Then Control Centre
Then System
Then Mint Assistant

From there you will get a series of options, one being to disable Fortunes.

Always something to learn for those open to learning.

I actually played around with the Mint Assistant the other day. Obviously fortune gets enabled by default if you do that. I wasn't aware that I did activate it.

Thx.
