My Icons are all a red circle with a line through it,
Can you attach a screen shot of that :?:

I have to run out for about an hour, so I won't be able to respond for a whiie.

The sudo command appears to be working, but it didn't work with find so I'm a little stumped at this point :?

Re: Uninstalling Updates

Again, everything looks fine :(

Since you say you can't save anything, my last guess here is that the partition is mounting or remounted read only because of a problem detected with it.

What does this return

Code: Select all

mount|grep -w /

I keep going back over this thread thinking - or should I say hoping - I missed something :?

Paste back the results of

Code: Select all

cd ~ && echo "This is a test write" > test_file && ls -lh test_file && cat test_file
and

Code: Select all

echo $PATH

Every indication from the results throughout this thread points to there being absolutely nothing wrong.

You said you couldn't save anything, yet a file was created, listed and printed.

I would really need to see a screenshot of what you're looking at with the red circle and lines because I'm totally stumped at this point :(

You should be able to save a screenshot to your /home folder.

Did you reboot and see ehat you get? It looks like gimp application is open . You just have to close it. Even reboot isnt required
