Selecting a repo server from different location in Synaptic

Postby ssvss » Wed Mar 18, 2009 10:23 am

Hi All,

Is there a way to select a repository server from different location in Synaptic in Linux Mint.

Usually the default server that is selected for my Country is very slow.
In Ubuntu, Synaptic has an option to search for the fastest server and select it.
but I couldnt find any such option in Linux Mint.

I installed Software Sources (software-properties-gtk) thinking that might help, but after installing it, it doesnt open and also the Settings->Repository also doesnt open.

Thanks

software-properties-gtk does not work with Felicia, although it does with Elyssa.

As for choosing repository mirror servers in Mint, you simply have to do it manually. Meaning choose your preferred mirror server from this list or this one, add it to your sources.list and comment out the default ones.

Unless someone has a better idea, that is about all you can do.
