scheme and emacs

OK so I'm trying to install Scheme a language you can learn in a day or so except its been going on a week now trying to install on my machine with linux are there straight forward way to install scheme and a stable version of emacs or do i just need to go back to windows so i can get some work done. plus im trying to backup some files on dvd but the backend doesnt allow it. So whos an expert on scheme and emacs please.
