Reading the above question and replies it occurs to me that adding these lines:

Cmnd_Alias EXEMPT_CMDS = /sbin/poweroff, /sbin/halt, /sbin/reboot, /usr/bin/mintupdate
yourusername ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: EXEMPT_CMDS

could be done to /etc/sudoers.d/myfile rather than to /etc/sudoers itself.
Any problem with this?
