Linux Mint Mate 18.1 Applets

Post by Alfonsidious »

Hi everyone! I'm a new linux mint Mate user and i need help. I saw on a video that a guy changed his theme into Win10 theme. So i tried to do the same but I couldn't download and install applets on my panel. The guy was just right clicking on the panel and typed the thing that he wanted and he downloaded it. Soon, I realized that he was using Linux Mint Cinnamon edition, but this thing can happen to Mate version? In other words, HOW CAN I DOWNLOAD NEW APPLETS?
Thanks in Advance!

I am a bit confused as to whether you are wanting a new theme or a new applet. Those are 2 different things.
What video did you watch?
Mint 18.2 Cinnamon, Quad core AMD A8-3870 with Radeon HD Graphics 6550D, 8GB DDR3, Ralink RT2561/RT61 802.11g PCI
Linux Linx 2018

That video is for the Cinnamon desktop, you're using the Mate desktop - I do not believe the steps would be the same

Why would you want Mint to look like Win10 anyway :?

I agree that making Mate look like W10 is silly, and ahwt's the point? You may be able to make it look like WIndows but it'll never WORK like Windows. I don;t think it'd be possible in Mate anyway.

Beware oif those youtube videos. Many if not most of those guys who post those don't know what the frak they're doing. And often the things they're describing only work for the release number they're using and of course they don't bother to mention that.

Thanks for the answers guys! Anyway, you're saying that there isn't an option (or a method) to install new applets, right?
Thanks in advance :)

In Mate, right-click on the Panel to install applets.
