Guaranteed safe, as it is from the cloud I installed it on a spare machine first, all thinkpads, works perfect.
EDIT from here (first answer) in case you want second opinion (confirmation)

I'd probably also suggest be sure to not update GE any time soon.

Re: Google Earth rendering earth globe 1inx1in
I've been having the same problem with GE displaying my desktop and a 1x1 inch black starry square in the bottom corner. Works now after installing the older version as suggested above
Re: Google Earth rendering earth globe 1inx1in
I've installed this a long time ago and it works but not that good for me. The pop-up windows showing pictures of parks etc is always blank and I have no min or max on my Earth window. This all works with the website version.schmmo wrote: ⤴Mon Feb 19, 2018 9:27 pm Here is the link stating the location of the older version (see wdeeley's or Philip G Graham's posts)...

Re: Google Earth rendering earth globe 1inx1in
Hi Pepi,
I have never had a problem with Google Earth in any edition or version of Linux Mint. I just checked Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon, and the only option in the Software Manager or Synaptic Package Manager (SPM) is the Google Earth Pro stable which seems to work very well or some other option to create a version? Obviously, there are other installation options as described in this and other posts for Google Earth... I have Google Earth regular stable (not pro) running well in Linux Mint KDE 17.3 and 18.3 too.
Since applications like this are very reliant on video, make sure there are no problems with that. It would help to know more about your system setup. If you run "inxi -Fxzd" and "lsusb" from the console terminal prompt, highlight the results, copy and paste them back here, that should provide enough information.
Hope this helps ...

Hi Phd21
I actually removed it and only use the web-base version now. I really like it. Thanks anyway

Hi Pepi,
You are welcome...
Of course, using the web-based version through a browser works great too without installing anything...

Re: Google Earth rendering earth globe 1inx1in
I installed from the software manager and found that only 1"x1" of the map was visible. I uninstalled using the software manager and installed the file linked above (google-earth-pro-stable_7.1.8.3036-r0_amd64.deb) and it ran perfectly under linux mint 19 64bit xfce.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Re: Google Earth rendering earth globe 1inx1in
GIven your problems, I thought i might try and install GE to see what is going on. Found it listed as a recommended app in Software Manager and selected install. All went smoothly and it opens as intended with a normal size Earth. The title bar does say GE Pro, so, definitely not a paid version.
