LibreOffice file open dialog box

Post by cecilieaux » Sun Aug 27, 2017 3:35 pm

Using the same versions of Linux Mint (17.3) and the same LibreOffice (5.4) I get different GUI open file dialogs, as shown below.

How I get just one version of the dialog on both computers?
(I like the Desktop version better).

I'm told it might be the window manager or the theme. Same in both LM and LO in both computers. The mystery continues!

If the themes are the same, wouldn't the title bars be the same color?

I did this once, too, and it drove me nuts.

In any LibreOffice application, hit Tools > Options... In the Options dialogue, under LibreOffice on the left, choose General. On the right, uncheck (or check, depending on your preference) the "Use LibreOffice dialogs" under Open/Save Dialogs.

That should do it.

The theme was different. I made them the same to experiment. No change.

Aha! That would be it ... except ... the laptop, with the same LO, 5.4.0.3, DOES NOT HAVE THE "Open/Save Dialogs" option.

And, yes, the options in blue on the laptop are the same.

Now that's odd.

Both devices are running the same Mint, all updates applied (aside from going to Mint 18.2)? I ran into this some time ago, so I don't think that it's a new setting. I am running LO 5.4.0.3 as well, but I had this happen before now:

Renamed the libreoffice directory in .config, no change.

I uninstalled LO but am having trouble reinstalling.

OK, "solved" it by performing a clean install of Sarah.
