Creating Keyboard Short cuts

Post by Prchral »

New to Linux. Installed 18.2 Cinnamon on my HP AIO 18. I study and teach foreign languages and I was wondering if there is a way to create a keyboard shortcut so that I can switch between languages being used via the keyboard. I am able to switch between languages using the mouse by clicking on the flag, but when I am typing I find it annoying to take my hands of the keyboard. I liked it on Windows where you could just his<ctrl>+<shift> to switch between languages. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Code: Select all

setxkbmap
http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/xen ... map.1.html

You could create a script that takes a language code as a parameter and map the script with the parameter to a hot key.

You can do it in Keyboard > Layouts > Options > Switching to another layout.

Its ALT+SHIFT to switch between languages.
Anyway if you want to change it (or it does not work for some reason), open Administration scroll down and find Keyboard. Chose Layouts, then options.
Find Switching to another layout, expand it. You will find all possible combinations, just activate the one(s) you like.
