Please start a terminal and post the output of this command:
Enclose the results in code markers, which you can select from the mini toolbar above the textbox where you type your reply. Note that F in

Re: popping sound at startup
I did notice some bangs and pops on startups. I then gave my microphone jack a squirt of tuner cleaner, before running a plug in and out of it a few times. No further problem.

Re: popping sound at startup
I get an obnoxious but brief hum-crack-pop when I power-up/shut-down, which started when I added a sound card (internal card was silent). Dunno of any solution (I'm guessing some software disconnects the ground before it should).jarp53 wrote:i'm getting a loud popping sound when i turn on my pc it happens also with some applications ;
If you're getting noises when you start apps I'd make sure the hardware was seated properly.

Re: popping sound at startup
Just out of curiosity, what sound card do you have? I have an ASUS Xonar D2, and it clicks quite a lot during boot - which is, in the case of that card, perfectly normal. Something about relays; I dunno, I kind of zone out at that point of the explanation.

Re: popping sound at startup [solved]
I'm having this problem on a new Lenovo system. From my searches on the web, it appears to be a known issue that has been identified and the fix will be (is) in 4.14 kernel. I currently just turn down the volume at boot up which is the only time I hear the popping.
