Synaptics error message on boot

Postby Torraf » Wed Dec 06, 2017 9:07 am

Everytime I boot my fresh copy of 18.3 Cinnamon I get an error message saying "Couldn't find synaptics properties. No synaptics driver loaded". When I click OK, it boots as normal and the touchpad works ok. Though I want to configure the sensitivty but the slider in the GUI options doesn't seem to affect it in an way. So I looked up the name of the touchpad by typing

Code: Select all

xinput list
. The name for my touchpad is "SYNA3602:00 0911;5288 Touchpad" and so with the command

Code: Select all

xinput set-prop "SYNA3602:00 0911;5288 Touchpad" "Synaptics Finger" 50 90 255
I should be able to change the sensitivty though it doesn't work either.

Anyway, anyone know how I can install or make the synaptics driver load properly? I've tried

Code: Select all

sudo apt install --reinstall xserver-xorg-input-synaptics
but it didn't work. I really want to make my touchpad more sensitive and make the error message go away.
