Trying to understand "recently used" feature

Post by orschiro » Thu Dec 07, 2017 8:11 am

Dear all,

I am trying to understand the feature "recent" and "open file".

Some file management dialog windows have something they call "recent" or "recently used".

But it's not consitently available.

- Nemo file manager, for instance, doesn't have it
- Chrome > Ctrl + o doesn't have it either
- Neither does Text Editor > Ctrl + o albeit its window looks differently from the Chrome

Can someone help me understand how these bits and pieces are related?

Thank you!

recently-used.xbel is what you're after...

Edit: just checked, if you install dconf editor, and search for 'recently', you can also somewhat further tweak the 'recent history' parameters...

Open the privacy settings of the system and activate the feature (top most setting). Now - after you have opened some files - you should see them in Nemo (side bar entry).

Cosmo, I didn't know Cinnamon has a setting for this. Thank you!
