How can I search for files from the menu?
I press `Super` to open the menu and would like to search for files from there.
How can I achieve that?

The first step is to tell us what version and edition of LM you're using.

What's the specific advantage in searching for files from the menu? It's not a feature in Cinnamon, and I think it would be a lot easier to just use a good search app and summon it with a custom key combo.
Here's a similar recent thread: viewtopic.php?f=208&t=256357&p=1383497#p1383497
As for having your system information in your signature: keep in mind that some people have outdated information there, and for that reason, many people will not rely on reading your signature; in fact some forum users even switch it off and cannot see it. But you can of course keep it there, keep it updated and then copy it into your posts as needed.

Re: How can I search for files from the menu?
Catfish is the best thing I've found , and it's a super-easy install thanks to Mint's superb Software Manager
I see that it is also recommended in that thread posted by Moem above .
I don't know about searching "from the menu " but you can easily make a keyboard shortcut to it .
"Everything" was my all time favorite search tool in Windows ( if that is a useful reference point )
but M$ use a different file system , so there is no version of it for GNU/Linux .

Catfish is good but I prefer gnome-search-tool (that's the package name). Try both.

Thank you for your software recommendations!
Are these (e.g. Catfish or GNOME Search Tool) in any way different in their search functionality than what is already provided by Nemo file manager (Ctrl + F)?

Re: How can I search for files from the menu?
I find Catfish much faster! When I try to search for a file in the root partition, Nemo falls flat. Catfish will find the file.orschiro wrote:Thank you for your software recommendations!

Re: How can I search for files from the menu?
Yes: Catfish has more options. Searching inside files, searching by date modified... and it's faster too.orschiro wrote:Are these (e.g. Catfish or GNOME Search Tool) in any way different in their search functionality than what is already provided by Nemo file manager (Ctrl + F)?

Quick heads up. I enabled "Recent files" in the privacy settings and now I can search for recent files and folders from the menu.
Cool!

I've been wanting something like this for a while ..... still in Beta though , but I'm happy to try it .
I always liked the way Everything constantly narrowed the list , with every letter typed .
