What are the source code repos used for? and is there any benefit to using them?

Best to use software repository or . deb packages to install as a user.

If you just want to review the code or make custom changes for yourself or for any other reason it's freely available for you :wink:

If you are a normal user, who has not the knowledge or the interest to modify and compile software on your own, those source code repos have no use for you. In the contrary, they make the list of added PPAs far less readable. So you can remove them without any disadvantage. (Just as for the official repos the source code repo is by default dis-activated.)
