Linux recognizes not existing output ports

Post by InvisibleGhost »

Dear team,

first of all I would like to say sorry for my bad English ;)

I have a HP Probook 450 G3 with a Linux Mint 18.3 installed (as a dual boot with a WIn10). Sometimes my screen jerks around or resizes itself on a quarter of the normal screen. Sometimes the screen freezes after this jerking.
Due to that I had a look at the output of xrandr, which gives me

Code: Select all

Screen 0: minimum 8 x 8, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 32767 x 32767
eDP1 connected primary 1920x1080+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 344mm x 193mm
   1920x1080 60.06*+ 59.93 40.04
   1680x1050 59.95 59.88
   1600x1024 60.17
   1400x1050 59.98
   1600x900 60.00
   1280x1024 60.02
   1440x900 59.89
   1280x960 60.00
   1368x768 60.00
   1360x768 59.80 59.96

   1024x576 60.00
   960x540 60.00
   800x600 60.32 56.25
   864x486 60.00
   640x480 59.94
   720x405 60.00
   640x360 60.00
DP1 connected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
   1024x768 60.00
   800x600 60.32 56.25
   848x480 60.00
   640x480 59.94
HDMI1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
HDMI2 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
VIRTUAL1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
The eDP1 screen is my normal screen and that's allright. Bur I'm really wondering about the displayport output DP1, because my Laptop doesn't even physically have one.
Furthermore it's quite interesting that xrandr doesn't always output the same result. The result changes from one query to another without doing anything with any output.

HDMI1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
HDMI2 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)

Does anybody have a clue what might be the problem or where that comes from?
Thanks and best regards
