[SOLVED] Linux Mint V17.1 to New Version?

Post by bensatlantic »

I've been using Mint 17.1 for over a year and it works perfectly - for this reason I've never upgraded to a newer version. Opinions from users here would be helpful, but rather than take that time from you all - is there a good place to find such information so that I can research this myself? For ex - a history of Mint versions between 17.1 and 18.3 and their features / performance reviews / LTS vs Beta etc. I'm happy enough with 17.1 that I feel I could use it indefinitely, just wondering what I might be missing by not using newer versions. Thanks in advance.

Hello, Bensatlantic.

You might visit the webpage Linux Mint Releases
You will find a list there of all official Linux Mint releases from 17, 17.1 to 18.3.
For each release you can visit the linked subpage for that release.
For each release there will be the Release Notes.
Inside the Release Notes there will be a "What's New in Linux Mint <release no.> <desktop environment>"
e.g. What's new in Linux Mint 17.2 Cinnamon
You should pay attention that you check the specific pages for your "desktop environment", Mate, Cinnamon, xfce or KDE, because the list of new features will be slightly different for each desktop environment.

HTH,
Karl
