Internet with Ubuntu/Linux Mint???

Post by ATaghavi » Sun May 24, 2009 2:16 pm

Ive installed both Ubuntu and Linux Mint (I understand that LinuxMint is vey closely realted to Ubuntu) and with both programs (installed and when trying them with the cd) my network card in my computer wont work. It is an HP Pavillion dv9000. The little wireless light is blue when the switch is on and orange when the wireless switch is off usually, but when i boot with linux mint the light is orange both ways. What can i do to fix this problem??

Maybe something in this thread will help you.

I searched for awhile and that was the best I could do.

I had to use ndiswrapper to get my Netgear PCI wireless card going.

Here's a troubleshooting guide for ndiswrapper with links for installing and setting up ndiswrapper.

Saying "HP Pavilion dv9000" doesn't actually help anyone discern the chipset of your wireless network card. You need to match the chipset with the appropriate kernel module, or with the appropriate Windows driver through ndiswrapper, to make the device work. You'll get this information out of 'lspci' and more information if you do 'lspci -vvnn'.
