As Cosmo said - that file is a special case, and you can ignore it. It is not a problem.

Yes, that's great, but I still do not have access to files and my desktop is black after starting up nemo. Also I cannot see how to move to 18.3.

You can just move to 18.3 and fix the black desktop problem that way.
You chose the "Something Else" option in the installation program. Chose the existing root partition as the 18.3 root partition and install 18.3
