[SOLVED]Shortcuts[copy + paste] not working in Terminal

Post by Huo_Qu_Bing »

Hi everyone,

The problem I face is that the copy [ctrl + c] and paste [ctrl + p] shortcuts do not work in terminal.
However it does work outside terminal.

How can I solve this situation?

There are several options. You can use the menu items at the top bar of the terminal window, you can use the rightclick menu, or you can use the following keyboard combos:
copy = shift + ctrl + c
paste = shift + ctrl + v

Normally, ctrl +p is print, not paste. Paste is ctrl + v, but in the terminal that function is already taken so it wasn't available. Hence, the added shift.

If your issue is solved, kindly indicate that by editing the first post in the topic, and adding [SOLVED] to the title. Thanks!

You might also find it useful to know these shortcuts:

Ctrl + U - Remove and store the text from the left of the current cursor position into a buffer.
Ctrl + W - Like with U, except it stores only a word, not until the start of the line.
Ctrl + Y - Restore and place the text stored within the aforementioned buffer.

These are for (most) terminals only.
Here to help.
