Linux Mint 64 bit "sylvia" on Lenovo ThinkPadT430 with i5 processor
Do you use the repos for your update manager or do you use a mirror? What is the most up to date and trustworthy mirror should I wish to go that route. Thanks!

Re: Update Manager
All the mirrors are 'trustworthy', it's all about download speed. Choose a mirror that gives you the best speed. The mirrors do lag slightly behind the main source in terms of update. I don't bother and just leave it as the default.

I agree. All are trustworthy.
The Software Sources program (Administration > Software Sources) will give you a report on the speeds of the mirrors.
Just click on the Main and Base tabs, and allow time to do the check.

Re: Update Manager
In a perfect world all mirrors would be at 14 / 7 equally up to date. As we do not live in a perfect world, the update manager (supposedly the most often used graphical package management tool) checks at every refresh, if the selected mirror is really up to date and reports in case of a problem and gives advice to switch the mirror. It is impossible to predict, which mirror will be the next one, which is affected.
Re: Update Manager
How is it be determined that a mirror site has not been compromised
Everything in life was difficult before it became easy.
Re: Update Manager
Packages from a compromised server would get rejected because of the not matching gpg-keys.
