LibreOffice Menu Fonts

Post by AZgl1500 » Wed Feb 21, 2018 2:45 am

I installed LibreOffice and the menu fonts were so tiny and faint that I can't read them.
I need to increase the size, and make the background White, and the Text BLACK
I am thinking this will be a "Theme?"

I deleted the User Profile folder as per the help listed here:

https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile

I didn't like how that turned out, so I purged all of LibreOffice,
and then I downloaded the newest 6.x version "FreshStable" direct from the PPA and installed it thru the terminal.

the result is a lot better, but, the fonts are still the default tiny size.

I'm confused. Why not make the fonts bigger via the following screenshot's focus?

I'm sure there's a way to change the page color. Yeah, a quick search yielded this: https://help.libreoffice.org/Writer/Cha ... ackgrounds

The menu font size is set by the OS. I'm running LM 17.3 Mate so this may be a little different for you. Go to Control Center. Under Look & Feel click on Appearance. Select the Fonts tab. For Application font choose something larger than what you now have.

Or, for a possibly more specific solution ...

Ime, one possible workaround for you might be to use LO's built-in "user Interface scaling" option: navigate LO's menu to ... Tools > Options > LibreOffice > View > "User Interface" > "Scaling", then advance to something like 115% to 120%. For me, that tweak worked the best on my setup (on older Dell monitor set to 1600x1200 resolution).

I'm not seeing the Scaling option in either the overall View list, nor the Writer View list.

for some reason rimg isn't working:

.I tried to use Softmaker FreeOffice, but it is not a close enough rival to MS Office for me, the menu structure is just all wrong... sent them an email asking how to scale up their Menu Fonts but they have not bothered to reply to me.

LibreOffice is the closest replica of MS Office that I have found so far...
But their Macro handling leaves a bit to be desired. I am still working on how to create the macro and then Define the Kybd Shortcut key to activate that macro.... going thru the menus to select a macro is nonsene.

My apology for [unintentionally] misleading you. The UI-Scaling option is present in LO v5x, as my attached screenshot shows. It looks like LO v6 dropped that rather helpful option, or buried it elsewhere ...

Bummer :(

Hey, you can't claim all of that.... I can't count the number of times I have read a 1st post and then went on to give a long disertation on how to "fix that thing"..... then read the next post behind me and realized that "hoo boy, was I ever on a tree limb..." it is amazing how we "Gloss Read" and don't actually "Read what is meant"...

Now, back to LibreOffice. I used the System Tools Font Selection app to try and configure things so I can read them... I managed to fix a lot of things, and Firefox honored the settings, but LibreOffice totally ignores the System Settings.

see below.
