access download folder

Post by chazb » Thu Feb 22, 2018 1:49 am

Running LM 17,3. I used to be able to go to Menu>Places>Downloads, and the system would go to Downloads, but no more. Why?

I can though access Downloads through the Home folder. Just want to know what i have screwed up, and how to fix it.

Does Downloads show up under Places? If not right click on Menu and select Preferences. In the Menu Preferences window select the Places tab. On the right side select New. In the New Place window enter Downloads in the Name box. For Path click on the folder icon. In the Select a folder window select the Downloads folder and click OK.

If Downloads shows up under Places but clicking on it doesn't go anywhere then perhaps the path needs to be fixed as above.

If this doesn't work then someone else will have to help you.

(based on LM 17.3 Mate)

What is your version of Mint and what is the desktop environment? If you don't know open a terminal and enter:

Code: Select all

inxi -Sz
Paste the output here.

You need to give this information for every help request in every thread.
Do not forget this in the future

Open your file manager and make hidden files visible (ctrl-h). Navigate in your home into the folder .config and load the file user-dis.dirs into a text editor. Copy and paste the content here.

Please use the reply button at the bottom of the page instead of doing a full quote. And even more important: Answer all questions, not only a part of it.
