Make entire screen grayscale mode?

Post by yudi099 »

* I am not sure which subforum to post this question

I want my screen to grayscale or monochrome, to reduce distraction. Hopefully can easily toggle from fullcolor to grayscale and vice versa. I have tried editing xorg.conf file but there are some weird think in the screen like Start Menu panel is not showing up and title bar of terminal window has weird pixel after moved.

Getting GRAYSCALE screen mode on Linux Mint Cinnamon desktop on laptop, using DESATURATE_ALL unofficial APPLET

This is an unofficial applet posted on Github (https://github.com/linuxmint/cinnamon-s ... ssues/2325) by Odyseus (https://github.com/Odyseus)

Steps:
1. Download the applet (direct link)- https://github.com/linuxmint/cinnamon-s ... in.com.zip
2. Extract the file and paste on /home/<your_user-name>/.local/share/cinnamon/applets
3. Reload Cinnamon (ALT+F2 then "r").
4. Right click on task bar--> Applets
5. Click Desaturate All to activate and you'll see a new icon of an artist's palette.
6. Turn Grayscale On/Off by clicking the icon

Note: You may get some slim black lines occasionaly on screen, but for me it's worthy.

Do you really believe, that anybody might want to know this after 4 years? (Besides ignoring the forum rules.) And posting it twice doesn't make anything better.
