XFCE Desktop not loading up on Mint 18.3

Post by progyadeep »

I downloaded Linux Mint 18.3 XFCE version. The problem is I can only see a Cinnamon kind of desktop. The XFCE desktop doesn't seem to be loading. However, the terminal is named as "Xfce-terminal" and the grub menu also lists the OS as "Linux Mint 18.3 - Xfce", so I guess XFCE is there somewhere inside the OS, but it doesn't load. I don't have that center aligned docker at the bottom of the screen. My desktop looks like Cinnamon.

Please help me activate Xfce desktop environment.

Please post the output of this terminal command:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz
Enclose the results in code markers, which you can select from the mini toolbar above the textbox where you type your reply. Be aware that the default theme of Mint xfce looks exactly like Cinnamon and MATE.

Isn't that in Xubuntu you get a center aligned docker?
In LM Xfce there is none.

I don't recall having that in Xubuntu and it doesn't appear here: https://xubuntu.org/screenshots/

But it apparently it is part of the standard XFCE desktop: https://xfce.org/about/screenshots

You are right, I must have mixed it up with another disro with Xfce. Some do come with that panel. It could have been Fedora Xfce.
