Can't Connect to router

Post by stephanieswitzer »

I use a Synology RT2600AC router for my network. I manage the router with Synology's 'Synology Router Manager' web portal. It work great under MacOS and iOS, but when I try to connect to the router in Mint via Chromium or Firefox the web page doesn't come up, timing out with a message to check proxy or firewall settings. I've never tried to tinker with these settings before so I have no idea what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The web portal I'm trying to reach is - http://router.synology.com:8000/webman/index.cgi

Thanks.

Did you also try http://192.168.1.1:8000

Try pinging it in a terminal session: ping 192.168.1.1 to verify they see each other.

Not familiar with that router, but per the users guide, use one of your Apple devices and makes sure the following is disabled until you can get all your devices login-capable.

"To enable (or disable) auto block, go to Network Center > Security > Auto Block."
Also, while in the router setup, look under "Traffic Control" to make sure there isn't some kind of setting that is prohibiting unknown devices.

I'm guessing you did not yet set up a VPN when using the Apple devices? (There appears to be OS-specific downloads when using the VPN features)

Using the IP address instead of the URL worked.

Thanks so much Michael
