Slideshow option for Login Screen? [SOLVED]

Post by UnlikeZero » Sun Mar 04, 2018 1:58 am

Hi!
Linux Mint freshman here.

Recently installed Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon 64-bit and still toying with the settings to personalize it's appearance and behavior.
I always liked the background slides on the login screen from Windows 10 and searched for a way to have this in Mint.

Apparently, this used to be present in older versions: viewtopic.php?t=249890.
However, when I go through my directories the path stops at /user/share/mdm.

So:
  • Where is the ../html-themes/...slideshow.conf?
  • If there's another way could you help me?
I'm running the latest version of the OS with everything updated.

Thanks in advance!

it still seems to be in /usr/share/mdm/html-themes/Mint-X/slideshow.conf.

and it's not a hidden ( system ) file - - so you should be able to find it , when using the file manager - - Nemo

mdm had been used until Mint 18.1; since 18.2 it has been replaced by LightDm, which does not provide the slideshow option. In a system, which had been originally installed as LM 18 or 18.1 mdm is still present, in fresh installs of newer version it is not. Because of that the files and paths in question do not exist there. (There is only one distro.conf file in /usr/share/mdm of a fresh install of 18.3 and I have no idea, for which purpose.)

SOLVED: The second comment was correct, it doesn't exist anymore.

However, since I automounted my storage hard-drive for the background slideshow, I also get a slideshow on the login screen.
