Firefox Question

Post by tho9504 » Tue Mar 06, 2018 2:02 pm

Is there a way to cast videos from my computer to Chromecast when using firefox? My wife's computer (windows 7) has Google Chrome as browser and i could cast youtube videos to my chromecast. But on my laptop (linux mint 18.3), i use Firefox. I don't see the cast option on youtube videos. Is there some option i need to turn on to cast videos? or Google restricted it to only Chrome? Then again, i am able to cast videos from my iphone which uses the safari browser.

Not compatible with Firefox Quantum. You will need to use an out of date browser and that's a high risk activity.

What are your opinion on Chromium browser? is that good? privacy oriented? secure? Since Chromium is based of Chrome, i am guessing it will have the casting option. Firefox will be my main browser but wanted to see if Chromium was secure and privacy oriented for me to use every once in a while.

thanks

IMHO - - it's no better than Firefox & in some instances - it may even be worse ( tracking )

Try Waterfox which is available for 64 bit systems and is in Package Manager.

Not tonight it isn't:
searched for 'water fox' and 'waterfox' and 'Waterfox'

looked in Software Manager and it isn't there either.

this link shows how to get it from a PPA

Keep in mind that Chromium is not Chrome. I don't think there's much tracking going on. If you want it to be completely Googlefree, there's Iridium... but I believe that Chromium is decent in that regard.

Wish that it were so!
Only after you've added the PPA.

I downloaded it directly from here: https://www.waterfoxproject.org/downloads

My opinion is that Slimjet is even better.
