snap vs. flat packages -- what's the difference? [SOLVED]

Post by cecilieaux » Thu Mar 15, 2018 7:20 pm

I tried to download a snap package (Wolfendoom), but found no way to run the thing one snap and the game package was installed. So I uninstalled.

Then, just being curious, I looked at the Software Manager and discovered flat packages (no Wolfendoom, alas!).

What is the difference between the two?

Don't this negate the security of PPAs and repositories and so forth?

This webpage should answer most of your questions: https://www.maketecheasier.com/snap-pac ... flatpacks/
It should be noted that Mint made a choice at least for now to make flatpacks the default.
