Video hardware accelerator

Post by bobfunduro » Sun Apr 08, 2018 12:46 pm

Hi all
Playing around trying to get Cinnamon to work on an old Fujitsu Amilo Li 1705.

Cinnamon runs ok but keep getting a message that it's running without hardware acceleration and consequent high CPU usage.

Can't seem to get updated drivers from Fujitsu or is this a Linux problem?

Is there any magical terminal code that will fix this?

Regards

Key here is 'old' in 'old Fujitsu Amilo Li 1705', So you might want to try a lighter desktop environment.

Provide the results of this terminal command for better advise.

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz

You're machine does not have the resources to run a Cinnamon desktop really.

I'd be looking at installing Mint Xfce or maybe even https://lubuntu.me/

A close cousin of Mint is this distribution... https://peppermintos.com/ ...which has a very Cinnamon feel to it without needing a large hardware budget. It sits on top of the same Ubuntu as Mint 18 and many of the tools are the same. It's not a 'real' Mint, but possibly what Mint would be if they still had an LXDE version.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named "manual".
