Press the ctl-alt-F1 keys and login from the console.

That's exactly the situation that the link applies to.

Black Screen + Flashing Underscore -----> The BIOS is trying to boot something with an MBR but no boot code. Like a USB stick?
At first I wanted to be an MP but now I think it would be crap.

the bios is recognizing a HD with GPT and UEFI. These are the bios settings shown)

I can see the HD in the Bios.

There is NO boot sequence

can't login to LM, as it does not load

The instructions are for people who are having the exact same problem. It does not tell you to log in to Mint in the normal way; it tells you to press the ctl-alt-F1 keys and log in from the console. That means a black screen with white text, not the normal graphical log-in page.

Have you tried to press the ctl-alt-F1 keys? What happened?

Ctrl+alt+f1 has NO effect

LM did not load, bios did not display start up screen, just blinking curser on black screen

That sounds like a hardware failure if you didn't get anything at all - possibly the HDD.

Do you have the live media you used to install Mint to try to boot with :?:

If you don't even get an initial BIOS screen that indicates F10 Boot Menu F2 Setup or something similar with the computer manufacturer logo for about 2-4 seconds then it might be the MB that's fried.

if I install the slave drive I get an error, install boot media
it will not boot that drive, but gives error

on the master drive I get just a blinking curser? no bios screen or boot

both drives are read, and can be seen in bios setup, and I can access bios setup

something very weird here
