Preferred Applications not listing all types

Post by cybervigilante » Wed Apr 18, 2018 4:12 pm

I want to set Okular as the preferred app for pdfs since Xnview keeps opening them, so I went to Preferred Apps in Settings, but there is no setting for PDFs. What do I do?

Maybe this can help: Right-click on a pdf and choose properties. In the pop-up box: "Open With" --> Okular and close. Try then to open another pdf and see if it works.

that will work, but it is not near as good, or usable as installing

you have to jockey around a bit to finally get to the Free for Home Use, but it is there, I have it.

Click on DOWNLOAD and this shows up

now, once that opens, Click on Ubuntu 14.04

I chose the .deb version for my 18.3 Mint Cinnamon

Thank you. I'll use Okular for plain reading but I can get that to write PDFs.
