A couple of questions to help solve this:

Did it ever work on Mint 15?
If so, it would be useful to know what changed at the same time wireless stopped.

Why are you using Mint 15?
That version is old, I don't believe it is supported anymore.
I feel more like I do than I did when I got here.

on those older PCs, it's been my observation, that the WiFi card slowly gets more & more flaky.
- first you lose the WiFi on the Windows side, then a few years later, the Linux side fails, as well.

can you get an updated ISO of LinuxMint 18x ? and test the WiFi connection with that ?.
