You might try the 4.15 series kernel.

Hello m-NUC

it certainly has nothing to do with your computer - it is about 8 times more powerful than my netbook - and on my old device the new Firefox runs quite properly.
Here's what I want you to do:
Export and secure your bookmarks. Deactivate all addons (all...) set the cache to zero in the preferences, set all (all...) other data transfers to zero, delete all cookies etc. and try this.

If this is useful you can look at the other settings afterwards...

if you are watching some 'IFFY' streaming site that offers free TV or Movies you may be victim of bitcoin mining which uses your CPU against you to mine bitcoins. this may not be the case but if it is you can battle it with a hosts file or adding a user filter to ublock origin https://github.com/hoshsadiq/adblock-nocoin-list

About mining: Is there a way to determine this using with task manager etc.?

i don't know too much about bitcoins i just added the hosts from here to my etc/hosts and then add nocoin.txt to ublock origin filter in google-chrome-stable extension. bitcoin mining can be done with cpu,gpu, and now i hear even with hard drive or in android streaming apps but don't think any extra process will show in system monitor since it will be the browser that will be at 100%. all you can do is keep an eye on cpu and gpu. even though you see coinhive.com in the ublock snap as green it's blocked WARNING: if you don't have protection DO NOT go to the site in the last snapshot for streaming videos especially in windows.

@ trytip
Thanks for your answer. My question was that of a very paranoiac - :shock: :shock: :shock:
Of course, I will include the scripts in uBlock Origin immediately.

I just see you have uBlock in advanced mode - and also uMatrix?
Is that correct?

@absque fenestris
yes i use the advanced mode but i don't use umatrix. too many redundancies. i used to have but disabled ScriptSafe for chrome or noscript for firefox which makes navigating the internet too harsh. most free streaming sites will take advantage of users and if you have privacy measures like ublock or noscript you can't even get in the front door. it seems that last year i found many GOOD streaming sites but with time they all get GREEDY and resort with implementing some sort of "leak everything we can from the user" syndrome.
do not want to hijack thread, if the OP has a different issue ...
