Mint Menu ignores mouse clicks

Post by baldpenguin »

The mint menu ig not registering mouse clicks, with the exception of the slack applet which registers a right-click. This happened after attempting to update the nvidia driver to latest stable, but the latest stable did not work with daisy-chaining the DP ports on the Dell monitors. Reverting to the previous nvidia driver allowed the chaining but the menu bar became unresponsive to mouse click. I can use the Meta(Windows) key to access all menu features.

Desktop: Cinnamon 3.6.7 (Gtk 3.18.9-1ubuntu3.3) dm: lightdm Distro: Ubuntu 16.04 xenial

nvidia-current/now 304.137-0ubuntu0~gpu16.04.1 amd64 [installed,local]

Any thoughts or things to try? Google has failed me thus far.

UPDATE ==-

It's the whole desktop that does not respond. Individual windows respond.

Icons are on the desktop and the desktop is configured to not have icons. If I re-enable the icons, they overlay the other icons. Bottom icons do not respond to click, top icons (the ones that just enabled) do respond to click. It's almost like the menu bar and desktop are a background image and not the actual desktop. Changing the background in the settings panel does not change the background except for the login screen. Bizarre

You seem to be running Ubuntu, not Mint, so you'd be better off at ubuntuforums.org.
