[SOLVED] Cannot use the update manager (dpkg interrupted, can't even run in terminal)

Post by winxpwasgreat »

Trying to run the updates autoticked on my update manager I get this error.

Code: Select all

E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.
Trying to run them one by one, I get the same error.

Trying to run 'dpkg --configure -a' from terminal I get this error:

Code: Select all

dpkg: error: requested operation requires superuser privilege
What's going on, and how to fix this??

Put sudo before the command. That's how you get temporary superuser privileges. Press enter after the command.
You will be prompted for your password; enter it (you will not get any visual feedback, not even stars) and press enter.
