[SOLVED] How to properly add a swap file?

Post by CupidsHelper »

I am using LM 18.3, which currently when installed does not automatically create a swap file (like in LM 19). What is the proper way to create a swap file (FYI *I do use bleachbit, with the clean memory option.)? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

maybe this can help you:

https://askubuntu.com/questions/33697/h ... le_rich_qa

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SwapFaq

Don't worry went the articles speaks about Ubuntu, Mint is Ubuntu-based distro.

Success!

Just a question, how did you installed Mint? When Mint sets up the partition automatically i know it will create a swap drive itself. Did you partitioned your drive manually?

Hello Anoep. I thank you for your response and the links. :) The SwapFaq was the right one, very helpful. 8)

In response to your question, to be clear, it is a swap file not a partition. The swap FILE is part of the Linux OS (same partition). Here are some links to give some background:

Have a great weekend, Anoep. :)
