The Screen turn black - now and then

Post by Jørn Rudolph »

Do not know - If this is a Newbie Question - But I think so ...

Well When I watch a movie with VLC Media Player -
Or watch a film from YouTube ...
*
Now and then the screen turn black ...
I push the mouse - and it continue ...

Not often - But still - Maybe each ½ hour (?)

I have turned off screen-shaver .

And turn the computer to "Never to stop" in the electric settings ...

It still do it - turn the screen black for a short moment - Until I push the mouse *

Can anyone here help ? - Please ....

Have a FINE Friday

this is the screensaver, disable it along with screen lock or install caffeine then run it when you watch videos and you don't want the black screen to return

I use the Mate desktop and have a startup program that works for me.

select control center/startup aplications and create a launcher with xset s 00 in the command section. Name it something, I use Noblank, and save it. Reboot and with screensaver turned off your screen should remain on. Note that is zero zero in the command.

I had this issue at one point, with one distribution or another. The solution for me was to run xset s off in a terminal, and if that failed, to amend it to ~/.bashrc. Not sure why it happens though.
I'm also Terminalforlife on GitHub.
