Perhaps check in Settings/Users and Groups and make sure your username is set to ask for password
at login.

In that case I would try creating a temporary new user in Users and Groups.
Set a password and pw login requirements for that user , then log out and log back in as the new
user. New users get a fresh set of config files--see if that user is required to enter a login password.

You could also test those options booted to the Mint .iso in the live desktop.

I'm sure you have this covered, but just in case, have you made sure that your screensaver/locker is set to lock the screen when the
screensaver is activated?
Also check to make sure auto-login in the log-in settings is not enabled.
Not knowing which Mint and desktop you have chosen makes it difficult to convey accurate directions.
Please post the terminal results of:

Code: Select all

inxi -Szxx

open your menu and type login in the search box.
open 'Login Window' and check under 'Users' tab for Automatic login.
Is your username listed there?

In Login Window/Users backspace to remove christofer so the space is blank
Close out the login settings window and restart your computer.
You should now be prompted to enter your login password every time
