Greetings everyone.
Even though I have set my power options to never suspend/put to sleep the laptop, every time I go afk for 5 minutes or so, the screen goes black and I have to unlock it via password again. I don't want this to happen, what can I do to fix the issue?
My laptop is a Lenovo Thinkpad T420. In the thumbnails below you can see my current power configuration and system information.

Check your settings for Menu/Screensaver. Uncheck the two boxes

Re: Mint 18.3 same problem
My 18.3 cinnamon 64 does NOT change anything after deactivating the 2 checkboxes in screensaver setting (German: Bildschirmschoner). The time limit is already changed to 2 h. Both energy options are set to never. It is a AMD-PC, NOT a Laptop. No use in accumulator saving.
It always runs black after 5 minutes of no action.
Its no fun to keep your trackman rolling al the time watching a show!

Re: Mint 18.3 same problem
Your problem is most likely due to your monitor's energystar compliance.HEmscher wrote: ⤴Wed Dec 05, 2018 2:29 pm My 18.3 cinnamon 64 does NOT change anything after deactivating the 2 checkboxes in screensaver setting (German: Bildschirmschoner). Try running these in a terminal:
Code: Select all
xset s 0 0
xset -dpms; xset s off
If it keeps the monitor on then you can create a bash script that runs at startup.

Hurray!
That did it. With win2k it never occurs, but Alas!
Thanx a lot!

As told, the set of commands work.
I've tried to but it in a bash script and stored:
[Desktop Entry]
Name=keep monitors on
Comment==keeps monitors on
Exec=xset s 0 0
Exec=xset -dpms; xset s off
Terminal=false
Type=Application
Categories=Settings;
StartupNotify=false
in a .desktop file in etc/xdg/autostart
Much to my chagrin this does not as I expected.
How to mend it?

I put the bash script in my ~/Documents directory point to that script in Startup Applictions.HEmscher wrote: ⤴Fri Feb 22, 2019 12:44 pm As told, the set of commands work.
