Seems to be a common problem, but as newbie I haven't managed to solve the problem.

Open your Synaptic Package Manager and search for autofs if not installed install it or open your terminal and use the following code

sudo apt-get install autofs
IF your problem has been solved, please edit your original post and add [SOLVED] to the beginning of the Subject Line. It helps other members

[SOLVED] bluray usb drive not mounting automatically.

Post by scubamut »

thks for quick response :D

Steps

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install autofs
Restarted

Code: Select all

mkdir /mnt/mydrive
mount /dev/sr1 /mnt/mydrive
then:

Code: Select all

VLC>Media>Disc>Bluray>No disc menus>Disc device>/dev/sr1>Play
and it works!!

:D :D

Now I would like to be able to :
1. change discs - eg bluray DVD to CD-DVD or vice versa
2. be able to remove/replace the USB drive

:?: I can do all this using the Terminal, but would appreciate any help to do this automatically -
to connect USB disk, to start VLC and play DVD/Bluray, remove the drive, etc.
