Linux Mint 19.0 64 bit "Tara" and Codeweavers CrossOver 17.5.0 32 bit

I own a mid-2016 Acer Predator 17X (GX-791) gaming notebook PC and I installed Linux Mint 19.0 64 bit "Tara" on it successfully. I purchased Codeweavers CrossOver for both Apple MacOS and GNU/Linux and I installed and unlocked version 17.5.0 32 bit for Debian and Ubuntu based GNU/Linux version successfully. After installing my Microsoft Windows software applications and products, the Windows Applications menu does not show up in my Linux Mint menu panel.
I right clicked it and tried to edit the menu system, but the Windows Applications are empty. There is a feature within Codeweavers CrossOver to recreate menus for the desktop environment, but it failed to create the Windows Applications menu and the launchers for each software title. I created a support ticket with Codeweavers to get technical support, but I decided to log in here to ask how do I "see" my Windows Applications menu and the launchers so I can add them to my favorites and panel for quick access?

Can't help much other than to say that crossover (17.5.0-1) works fine with 18.3 cinnamon as shown below. I've got three bottles, office 2013, kindle and win98 for everything else. Which DE are you using cinnamon, mate or xfce?

If you get a fix from codeweavers can you post it here (or if not, report progress). I'm still running 18.3 but plan to update to 19 soon. If I hit the same problem you've got would be nice to know the answer.

what you can try - - is to Log-Out & then Log-In again - - this does often fix that issue,
where your newly installed program, doesn't show up, initially in the Menu Tree or under Windows Applications.

also2: have you tried a help query in the Linux Sub_Forum on the crossover site ?.

as to myself - I've got all of my bottles backed-up & simply import them, into the newly installed Crossover.
& this does seem to work for those programs, that I'd use on an regular basis.

this also means that I've not recently had to actual install any programs, either.

Codeweavers told me that they can't reproduce this issue in Linux Mint 19 thus they can't fix it yet.

First, they told me to do this BEFORE I installed Codeweavers CrossOver 17.5.0 (32 bit):

So as to re-replicate the problem. I did a fresh install of Mint 19. Before i installed crossover i ran in terminal :
sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386 ; sudo apt-get update
then i installed the .deb package.
I imported my archive bottles and installed a notepad. The windows applications showed up in the menu.
I did not have to do what was suggested in the link.

Why is it that I keep getting permission denied errors? How do I fix it?

Mind you, I had already installed Codeweavers CrossOver 17.5.0 (32 bit) on Linux Mint 19.0 64 bit "Tara" and I had reversed the order. Now, my Windows Applications menu is missing from Cinnamon, MATE, and XFCE. It looks like I am going to have to reinstall Linux Mint 19.0 64 bit "Tara" and follow their instructions exactly all over again. I'd rather not do that and wait for them to provide me with a solution

it won't fix the issue but check that you have "ubuntu/ bionic main' " not "ubuntu/ artful main' " for mint19/ubuntu18

Codeweavers is stuck at trying to figure out how to solve this problem that is reproducible on my three gaming PCs running Linux Mint 19.0 64 bit "Tara."

Is there anything that this community can do to help me? I want to be able to see my Windows Applications in my Cinnamon, MATE, and XFCE menus.

What may fix your issue is sudo chown -R $USER:$USER /home/$USER

Maybe one of your install attempts you used sudo somewhere that you shouldn't have and uninstalling probably didn't remove the root owned entries in your home folder.

Is it safe to change the ownership and permissions of my /home/wellywu/.local/share/applications? I was thinking about doing this:

It worked. I now see my Windows Applications and my CrossOver bottle titles in my Cinnamon menu. This is solved.

Same problem, I'm testing LM19 on a spare T430 to sort out all the bugs before I update my daily driver, another T430.

Copied /home partition over to test T430 and did a clean install of LM in a separate / partition. Installed crossover 17.5 (same as daily driver). It found all my bottles and applications, but no items in the menu.

Solution - go back to daily driver and export the office 2013 bottle, copy over to test T430, delete existing office 2013 bottle on test T430 and import new bottle, voila menu entries appeared.

BUT... now have a problem where any office 2013 app just appears as a black window Have raised a new post on this.

Note: with the Crossover Software,, do check Edit - Preferences - Online Integration:
- - ensure that Both Boxes Are Checked .. ..

I used Crossover Linux 16.0 just fine in Linux Mint 18 versions, but I'm also having issues with it in Linux Mint 19. So far, none of my old games are installing or running again. Guess I'll wait a while before buying version 17, after they've had time to patch their program to deal with the new release.
