Linux Mint 18.3 Sylvia: "Cinnamon just crashed. Currently running in Fallback Mode"

Post by Cruzer »

I get this message now.

Any idea how to resolve this issue? I read it's maybe a drive issue with NVIDIA graphics adapter?

Linux Mint 18.3 Sylvia - Cinnamon
HP-Compaq-8710p-RM254UT-ABA
Kernel: 4.15.0-24-generic i686 (32 bit gcc: 5.4.0)

lspci -vnn | grep VGA

Linux 32-bit

I went to http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverRe ... 5160/en-us and found out my system requires:

When did this happen? I see you have the evil 24 kernel - can you boot with an older one?
Mint 19.3 XFCE [kernel 5.4.0-48-generic]
Ryzen 7 2700X Eight-Core w/16 GB RAM
AMD Radeon R9 290 w/4GB RAM
