Getting AMD GPU drivers in Linux Mint 19

Post by deadcarrot » Wed Jul 18, 2018 11:21 pm

Just installed Linux Mint 19 onto my Dell latitude e6440 with an intel i7-4600m and an AMD Radeon HD 8690M GPU. No matter what I do though, I cant seem to get the GPU to be recognized by the OS. :x I got to system info, and it displays the intel HD graphics as the graphics processor. I go into the driver manager and no drivers are listed on their, even after making sure I get all of the updates in the update manager. Anyone have ideas on how I can get my AMD GPU to be recognized? Or does Mint 19 lack support for mobile AMD GPUs? :(

AMD Catalyst drivers are not supported ( by AMD ) in Mint 19.

You'll have to use the open source driver, should be active already.

Use

Code: Select all

inxi -G
to see current driver status. Post the results if

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz
if they're not loaded.
