Did you check the log file in your output directory for more information?
Please edit your original post title to include [SOLVED] if/when it is solved!

Hi AmiMizuno,

I just read your post and the good replies to it. Here are my thoughts on this as well.

It would help to know more about your system setup. If you run "inxi -Fxzd" and "lsusb" from the console terminal prompt, highlight the results, copy and paste them back here, that should provide enough information.

Which version of ffmpeg are you using? Your image is of Krita, so what exactly are you trying to do with it?

Hi AmiMizuno,

Obviously, I meant your screenshot of Krita not Blender.

Ok, you are using Linux Mint 19 64-bit. Why does the video driver say "modesetting"?

ffmpeg v3.x is good.

Can you please explain to us what you were doing or trying to do in Krita that caused this message? Is there an example available of your file(s) to render that we can try? How did you install Krita and what version of Krita are you using, from the Software Manager or Synaptic Package Manager SPM, AppImage, Flatpak, or some other method?

There are other animation and video rendering options available for images from Krita or other apps. Gimp has an animation package (gimp-gap).

Hope this helps ...

I downloaded the versions on krita’s website but then used the snap install. I was trying to render a video. Yea I’m in Linux 19. I have done rendering and animation in krita before

Hi AmiMizuno,

I did not know that Krita could do animations until researching your post or that it could render Krita projects into videos.

Although this may seem redundant, Linux Mint 19 is brand new (Ubuntu 18.04), so you might consider removing the "snap" package" and install it from the Software Manager or Synaptic Package Manager (SPM).

For certain applications like "Kdenlive", "Krita", etc... If they are available in the Software Manager or Synaptic Package Manager SPM I will install that first, then if newer versions are also available using their PPA, AppImage, Flatpak, Snap, etc... I will also install that. I prefer AppImages when available over flatpak or snap packages.

*** Linux Mint 19 users can use their PPA to install and or upgrade the version from the Software Manager or Synaptic Package Manager to ver 4.1 and keep that updated.***

Code: Select all

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kritalime/ppa

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update

Code: Select all

sudo apt install krita
If your animation and or video is not too personal, and you feel like sharing, I would like to see one of these.

For Linux Mint 18.x and 17.x users of Krita, I recommend installing Krita from the Software Manager or Synaptic Package Manager SPM and then downloading and using their AppImage file for the newer version.

Hope this helps ...

Hi JerryF,

Because I answer a lot of posts, I use the extremely useful "Autokey" application to automatically enter in commonly used text and phrases in my posts and replies, and I sometimes forget to remove something like the "lsusb" when it is not relevant to a particular post or reply.
