How to install linux mint 19 on macbook pro 2017

Post by tstreets »

My goal is to completely switch the OS to Linux so I dont want to partition my machine. Im booting linux from a USB and originally followed this article to install on a macbook 2015 which worked just fine https://www.macworld.co.uk/how-to/mac/ ... c-3637265/

I tried the same steps on my macbook 2017 version 10.13.4. I immediately ran into the issue of the keyboard and track pad not working. After some research I found that I needed to install drivers to make this work as well as for the wifi and most other basic features of the machine.

Ive done quite a bit of research and have not found a very clear concise way to work through this and it seems that many others are also still trying to figure it out. I found this resource https://gist.github.com/roadrunner2/128 ... c6a92f9cd7 which seemed like it would be a good lead on how to install, but the command i typed in for the keyboard/touchpad did not work. It kicked back saying there was no command for "dnf" as well as i didnt have any luck with the other commands in that section.

Does any one have any experience with a similar install that was successful?
