newb here hello to all. Adjusting the scroll function on mint

So I got tired of windows and all the pushed software that couldn't be deleted. The restart or die function, and everything else windows does that annoyed me.

I'm not very pc savoy so it took me a bit to figure out how to make a flash drive with mint 19. Once I figured out how to install it I tried it on a small dell tablet that couldn't boot up past the bios. one crack and I had the little fella rocking mint! installed google chrome and from there I knew if I had chrome on the machine pretty much 99% of my computer time is spent on google. So I went ahead and installed Linux on my main pc.

I love the clean simple layout Linux has, so much better than windows! You all have done a great job with it.

I have noticed the mouses scrolling function is a bit slow and have tried three different options to adjust the sensitivity with no success.

This is pretty much the only thing I want to change at this point. can anyone give me any suggestions on the easiest way to adjust this.

Whenever you ask for help always provide details about your system as 'we' need that to help you, it really does matter

Open that terminal... black box on your desktop.. and enter the following

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz

paste back the results using the forum code tags </>

If you're using the cinnamon desktop you can go to settings/hardware/mouse and touchpad

There you will find a slider where you can adjust mouse speeds.

The keyboard and mouse are Logitech of similar vintage. I read that lenovo was an ideal candidate to run Linux.

I did find the mouse settings. But there doesn't seem to be any setting for the sensitivity for the scrolling function.

My index finger is starting to get sore. and I think I saw a little puff of smoke come off my scroll wheel.

I'm not sure as I don't use laptops/touchpads but...

If you look at those settings select touchpad and at the bottom there is 'pointer speed' Custom acceleration and sensitivity, if you slide the switch to 'on' it gives control slider options.

Past that I don't know but someone else might..

I also have the input list figured out. I was hoping to adjust the scroll in the code the first time I tried. I think the code I was trying to use was old code, or not ment for linux mint.

I have the same problem with Linux Mint 19.1.

In the posts on AskUbuntu they have v8.0 of the transceiver driver while for some reason in Linux Mint 19.1 I have v7.0.
They seem to have different properties.

If you found a way to solve it, please share.

I've found this, because I had the same problem with slow scrolling and I tried it on my LM 19.1 desktop. It works really good and is very easy to install. You can apply the mentioned script-code again and again until you have found your right scrolling speed (for me 5 is even enough ):
