Unable to mirror monitors with Mint 19 Tara

First of all, thank you for the add...
Loaded Mint 19 Tara onto an old Toshiba Qosmio this afternoon, with a 50" pioneer plasma hooked up to it, and wish to mirror the displays...
Went to preferences/display, and the checkbox for mirror is "greyed out", and inaccessible...
It has been quite some time since I used linux, but had no such issues with Ubuntu 12 on this machine...
Any help would be greatly appreciated :oops:
