Booting Asus Vivo Laptop

Post by lesm »

Hi I have recently set up Linux 19 to duel boot with windows 10 on an Asus Viv0book X542BA with AMD Radeon R5 Graphics. Unfortunately it does not always boot to the sign in screen. About 1 in 3 times it boots sucessfully the rest of the time it goes to a black screen. I have tried entering radeon.modeset=0 in the Grub 2
command line but this brings it to a black screen, nomodeset works ok.
The OS is Linux Mint 19 cinnamom. Is this a hardware or driver problem? Windows 10 Boots fine.
